Transition Denman Island

TERMS OF REFERENCE
(Revised June 2013)

The Transition Denman Island Committee is a committee of the Denman Island Residents’ Association (DIRA).

The objective of the Transition Denman Island is to address the challenges of energy crises and climate change as it affects Denman residents.
Specifically to support this objective the Transition Denman Island Steering Committee and its sub-committees shall:

1. seek membership and support from Denman islanders. These committees are: Arts and Entertainment; Agriculture-Food Sustainability (Hornby/Denman GPA), Eco-Friendly Building, Education and Reskilling, Renewable Energy, Transportation.

2. keep DIRA informed of any fundraising activities or any other planned activities and take direction from DIRA.

3. only engage in activities that support their areas of interest and the steering committee shall communicate those activities with the DIRA membership.

4. communicate with government or other agencies whose policies and activities relate to its area of interest subject to approval from DIRA.

5. liaise with other groups sharing similar interests and objectives.

6. seek input from the population of Denman Island before undertaking major activities or projects, as determined by the Transition Denman Island Steering Committee and DIRA.
